Answer regarding Surah 19, Ayah 71: In a jail, besides the prisoners, there is staff of the jail, lawyers and various other people visit jail, but the punishment there is meant only for the prisoners. Just like entering a jail does not mean being punished therein, entering hell in literal sense does not mean being punished therein. The Qur'an makes it very clear who will be punished in hell and who will be rewarded in paradise, such as Surah 2, Ayah 25, 38, 39, 82, 277, Surah 3, Ayah 57, Surah 4, Ayah 57, 122, and so on. Prophet Ibraheem (alaihis salam) was made to enter the fire in this world but he was saved by Allah and not harmed by it. For others it was blazing hot fire but for Ibraheem (alaihis salam) it became cool and peaceful with the order of Allah (Surah 21, Ayah 66-73). Moreover, the word used in Surah 19, Ayah 71, from the root wa-ra-da, means coming to a place or near it or within its sight and it does not necessarily mean entering it, for example, Surah 28, Ayah 23 uses the same root word saying, "when he (Moses) came to the water of Madyan," it does mean he entered the water or well, rather he just reached near it or within its sight. The reference you're giving from the upanishads and yajurveda is right but incomplete. They speak about the supreme consciousness (Bramhan) which in its purest state cannot be seen, heard, smelt, touched or perceived. All of creation is said to be a form of this Bramhan, since in Hinduism creation and the source of creation aren't different entities. So Bramhan doesn't have a photograph, an idol, an image at all. But the Gods and beings which are a form of it, idols of these have been made to channel devotion. No scripture in Hinduism prohibits using idols or anything at all. We are allowed to worship anything since everything is believed to be a form of that one supreme consciousness
